The third week of November is geography awareness week and a multitude of activities are organized all across the globe to celebrate spatial data and their crucial role in sustainable decision-making.

Novia is organizing a GeoDay event on campus Raseborg on November 20th with a full day programme (link below) including
- guest lectures from agriculture, forestry, construction, engineering, seafaring and gaming;
- hands-on demo of aerial, underwater and surface drone, GPS, Total Station, VR and AR
- students seminar

There will also be posters from master students about their use of GIS in their studies and conversation with professionals in the industry about career opportunities around coffee.
The event is free of charge and coffee included.

We had 33 participants online, including students from our campus in Vasa, and 32 on site in the morning session, 19 in our students seminar and 45 in our hands-on session - Even though it was lecture week.
Additionally to our presenters notably from GISPO, LUKE, SYKE, NLS, Novia UAS and even Royal Danish Academy talking about tech forestry, smart agriculture, BIM and virtual engineering, we had visitors from Nylands Svenska Lantbrukssällskap, Raseborg Energi, Raseborg Stad and students from Hangö, Ekenäs gymnasium (with teachers Axel Holmberg and Johanna von Frenckell) and visiting prospect students from Ostrobothnia.
Västra Nyland museum also lent us the old maps of Ekenäs that were in the atrium.
