Sports, Hobbies and Leisure
Your free time is an important part of your experience in Finland.
Exercise has a proven positive effect on our well-being, and Finns are generally very active. The Finnish people do not let the colder winter months stop them from exercising outdoors. There’s a popular quote Finnish parents often say to their children; “there’s no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes!”.
While being in Finland, make sure to go to a sauna, see an ice hockey game and try out cross country skiing or ice skating! A trip to Lapland is for sure an unforgettable experience as well.
The sports services of the university and the higher education institutions of the cities of Vaasa and Turku have been combined into ÅAU Sports in Vaasa and Campus Sport in Turku, and you can try out a wide variety of sports activities from hatha yoga, rugby or zumba.
Regardless of your campus, there are lots of things to see and explore in your new hometown.
