Innovative Arctic Food Quality Control for SMEs

InAFQual

About the project

The Interreg Aurora region's food SMEs face increasing pressure to meet legal requirements and rising consumer expectations for food quality and safety. However, due to their small size, most SMEs lack access to up-to-date costly quality control systems to ensure high quality and hygiene throughout the production processes.

This project addresses these challenges by testing innovative, affordable technologies. It focuses on developing alternative solutions using spectral and spectral imaging, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Tiny Machine Learning (TinyML). These tools aim to improve food quality assessment and documentation, making them suitable for adoption by SMEs.

The aim is to make quality control easier, smarter, safer, and more sustainable.

Project goal

We will empower local food SMEs with affordable tools, to preserve and promote Arctic food heritage while boosting global competitiveness.
