Check of Certificates

Original certificates will be checked during your studies. Universities of applied sciences check the original certificates of all new admitted students registered as attending (present). You will be informed about when to bring all original certificates you used in the application with you for this check, to secure your study place. The admission is conditional until original certificates are checked.

Campus Information

Accommodation

Novia UAS does not offer student accommodation. Students are expected to arrange their own living before their arrival in Finland/or place of study. Apply for student living as soon as possible after receiving your decision on student admission to ensure that you have a place to stay. A useful site to find apartments is for instance on Facebook "Raseborgs bostadsmarknad".

How to get to Campus Raseborg?

Campus Raseborg is situated at Raseborgsvägen 9 in Ekenäs (Raaseporintie 9 in Tammisaari). If you arrive by car, you will find the parking lot in front of the main building. You can also take the train or the bus. The train station is a 10 minutes walk from campus and the bus stop is almost opposite of the main building.

Bring Your Own Device Practice (BYOD)

Although there are computer classrooms on campus, as a student you are encouraged to get a laptop computer for your studies.

You should choose a laptop computer that can run office programs. The laptop computer should have an internet connection and a webcam, so that if necessary, you can participate in distance learning with your own video and audio. The computers are usually connected via Novia's wireless network, and it's good if they last a few hours on a single charge.

For normal use, Windows 11 with at least 8GB of memory is recommended.

In courses that require heavier software or special equipment, we use our computer classrooms or cloud services. Our aim is to use, when possible, programs available as free versions.

At the start of the study, you will get instructions on how to get free access to Microsoft Office 365, as well as how to install Microsoft Security Essentials antivirus software. Digital material is stored on OneDrive for Business, where you can share it with other students and teachers.

Within certain limits, Linux and Apple MacOS can also be used. To run certain programs, these operating systems require virtualization software with which to run Windows virtually. This virtualization software may have an additional cost and requires some technical knowledge to install and administer.

Chromebook or Windows 11 SE devices are not suitable for study use on Novia.

Your Novia account is automatically created when you are admitted to Novia and information on how to use it will be sent to your private email address. To use your Novia account go to the Novia Self Service Portal via this link and follow the instructions. If you cannot identify yourself at the Novia Self Service Portal with Finnish bank codes or mobile certificates, please visit Student Services at your Novia campus for further instructions.

Membership in the Student Union, Novium

As a member of the Student Union of Novia UAS, Novium, you can enjoy many benefits during your years of studying. For instance you'll get a calendar for free, cheaper entrance fees at events and legal advising for free. The membership fee is only 10 euro per academic year. The student card from the student union gives you discount on train and bus tickets and on student lunch (in student restaurants).
