Nordic Music Creators (NMC) is a network in the Kvarken region comprising Novia University of Applied Sciences, Musikmakarna- Songwriters Academy of Sweden, Yrkesakademin i Österbotten, Lappfjärds folkhögskolan and Kulturakademin Storuman.

With extensive connections within the regional, national, and global music industry, we aim to provide a platform for competence development, innovation, and collaborative ventures. By partnering with songwriters, entrepreneurs, students, and small to medium-sized enterprises within the industry, NMC will elevate the region's entrepreneurs in the global market.

The project will engage in innovative songwriting camps, seminars, webinars, and networking events among artists, musicians, songwriters, and producers. Other project objectives include entrepreneurship within creative industries, gender equality, and health and well-being within the music industry.

“Within the project, we gather knowledge, skills, and contacts into a common pool for project partners, our network in the Aurora region, and international collaborators. In the long term, the project contributes to increased business activity and music export.”, says Victor Strömbäck

Who Can Participate in Nordic Music Creators?

All online events are open and free. Collaborating partners will also have the opportunity to participate in our creative camps, innovation labs, and events. To participate in camps and innovation labs, participants will need to have strong skills in songwriting and music production. For camps, there will typically be an application process for individual participants based on their portfolio. Songwriting and music production carried out within the project will maintain a high level of artistic and professional quality. We will also organize activities and events suitable for partners with younger participants.

The Interreg Aurora project Nordic Music Creators has commenced in early spring 2024 and will continue until January 31, 2027. With a project budget exceeding one million euros, the project aims to bolster the music industry in the Kvarken region.

Funding for the project is provided by Interreg Aurora with support from the Lapland Federation, Region Västerbotten, Örnsköldsvik Municipality, Svenska kulturfonden, Novia University of Applied Sciences, City of Kristinestad , Svenska Österbottens förbund för utbildning och kultur, Kultur Akademin Storuman and Stundentföreningen Musikmakarna.

Further information about events and activities within the project will be published during the spring on the organizations' respective websites or social media.
