Amanda Grankvist, Estenom (YH)

Can you briefly describe your profession, the path to it, and what influenced your career choice?

I work at Dermosil as a customer service specialist and makeup advisor, which means I help customers with their questions and needs, and provide tips and advice on cosmetic products. In addition, I create content for Dermosil’s social media, which adds a creative aspect to my work.

My path here has been quite natural. I’ve worked in customer service and visual merchandising in clothing stores for a long time, but I felt I wanted to combine my experience in customer interaction with my strong interest in cosmetics. I believe what influenced my career choice was the opportunity to use both creativity and social skills in the same job

What do you think is the best part of your profession?

The best part of my job is its versatility. I get to meet customers, give personal advice, work creatively with social media, and together with a colleague lead “Makeup Masterclass” events, where we teach a makeup look step by step while sharing tips and tricks about products and techniques.

Every day brings different challenges, which is both educational and rewarding.

How have your studies influenced your career choice and path? Do you feel your education has been useful in your professional life?

My interest in fashion and cosmetics led me to study to become an estenom. The education was rewarding and valuable, not only because I learned techniques and products, but also because it gave me a deeper understanding of customer service and interaction, which I use every day at work.

Please tell us briefly about your studies and how you experienced your time as a student.

My time as a student was intense and demanding, but also very rewarding. We had both theoretical courses and practical exercises. I especially appreciated the practical elements, which gave me confidence in my current profession.

What are your future plans? How do you see your future?

My future plans are to continue working at Dermosil and to grow within the various areas the company has to offer.
