Previous Knowledge
Open UAS studies are for everyone regardless of previous knowledge or age, however, it is important to have sufficient language skills in the language of instruction as well as sufficient computer skills and the software required to participate in teaching.
In order to participate in Specialisation Studies, you have already completed a higher education degree or have otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge. The specialisation studies offered by Novia UAS are generally in Swedish, but good ability to understand Finnish (and English) is required because some study literature is in a language other than Swedish.
Basic digital skills are required in all our non-degree programmes, as you will write and upload your texts and also participate in online events with both audio and picture. Sufficient language skills are needed to be able to take on the knowledge in both native languages and English.

Study Skills
Studies at university level means that study success is the students' own responsibility. Since all students are unique and study styles vary, we have developed some good advice that all students at Novia UAS have the opportunity to learn.
Our material regarding study skills, study techniques and so on, can be found on the intranet (requires login). You will receive a username and password for login when you have been granted right to study at Novia UAS.
Student Counselling
You also have the opportunity to make an appointment with a Student Counsellor to get help in sorting out your possible questions regarding the studies. If you feel you need support in planning your studies, you can make an appointment with the Student Counsellor for guidance (requires login)
