Forest legislation on forest thinning Grass control Tending of seedling stands Pricing of tending First thinnings Later thinnings Evaluation of the quality of performed thinnings Forest fertilization Public funding of stand management measures The course is based on several of the global sustainability goals, mainly the goals of Responsible consumption and production as well as Climate action.
Goal
The student - knows how silvicultural measures affect the development of the stand structure - can plan and calculate costs for tending of seedling stands - can assess thinning needs and thinning strength - understands how different forms of thinning can be applied in different stands - knows the risks associated with windfall and how to prevent them - knows the main principles for forest fertilization on mineral soil - knows different forms of subsidies for silvicultural measures
