Travelling to Vaasa
Please plan to arrive latest on Sunday, 8 February 2026, and depart earliest on Friday, 13 February 2026, after lunch.
- Train: Direct and connecting trains from Helsinki (see VR timetables)
- Plane: Regular flights from Helsinki and Stockholm to Vaasa Airport (9 km from city center)
- Ferry: Daily connection between Vaasa and Umeå, Sweden (see Wasaline for details)
Tip: Compare flight prices from your city to Vaasa (with a transfer in Helsinki or Stockholm) against flying to Helsinki and then taking a train or bus to Vaasa. Flights to Vaasa can sometimes cost the same—or even less—than the train fare from Helsinki, and they cut travel time from four hours to just one.
However, if you prefer a more environmentally friendly option, the train ride from Helsinki is a great choice.
Accommodation
Students are responsible for covering their own accommodation costs. There are numerous hotel options available in Vaasa. Omena Hotel offers affordable rooms, including options suitable for shared accommodation.
