Ahmed Elhadi

Ahmed Elhadi is a Project Manager at the Maritime Technology RDI unit at Novia University of Applied Sciences. He combines a seafaring background with marine technology and research in maritime projects. He is currently coordinating the Maritime Data Methods for Safe Shipping (MaDaMe) initiative, an international e-navigation project focused on developing new digital tools for fairway navigation in the Baltic Sea Region.

Ahmed completed his Bachelor of Maritime Management, Captain, at Novia, and obtained his Certificate of Competency as a Deck Officer from Traficom. He began his career in maritime research and development through a consultancy internship, working with maritime emissions reduction technologies.

Over the course of his career, he has been involved in diverse areas across the maritime industry. Ahmed has worked on projects in maritime logistics and port operations, maritime speech technology and digital communication, and, most recently, e-Navigation and hydrography.

On-going projects

Ahmed is currently managing the Maritime Data Methods for Safe Shipping (MaDaMe) project, overseeing its progress and ensuring the achievement of its ambitious goals. He provides expertise in the development of a test S-100 Electronic Chart Software, coordinates simulator and onboard-ship pilots with project partners, and contributes to the dissemination of the project results to relevant stakeholders and global standardization efforts.

Research interests

Ahmed is interested in exploring the possibilities of adopting new technologies in seafaring, and the maritime domain in general. As in, what kind of tools and methods can assist the ship bridge team in their daily operations and increase the overall safety of navigation at sea.
