About the project

The project is a collaborative initiative between Novia University of Applied Sciences and the Jakobstad Museum, with the aim of developing new digital services and strengthening the operational environment in rural areas. By coordinating and fostering cooperation between education, culture, local associations, and museum visitors, with a particular focus on young people and young adults, the project develops an innovative XR-guided experience through which visitors can engage with the region’s historical narratives in an accessible and engaging way. The experience is delivered through dramatized guided tours in which historical figures appear and tell their own stories, visualizing and bringing the past to life.

The project serves as a platform for knowledge exchange, joint development, and the dissemination of digital methods for cultural heritage interpretation. Through workshops, networking events, and pilot activities, various rural stakeholders are engaged and coordinated to develop and test new forms of services, particularly aimed at young people and individuals with disabilities.

The project contributes to increasing the attractiveness, accessibility, and digital competence of rural areas, while also strengthening collaborative structures and the long-term capacity of local stakeholders. The result is a more inclusive, innovative, and sustainable operational environment in rural communities, in line with the objectives of the intervention category and the Leader Strategy for Ostrobothnia.
