Forskningsomrade Systemomstallning for att bygga resiliens

Gårdsnyckeln - för hållbara ägarbyten och attraktivt lantbruk

About the project

Gårdsnyckeln – for Sustainable Farm Successions and Attractive Agriculture (2026–2028) is a cross-regional, Finland-Swedish information dissemination project that connects stakeholders across the entire agricultural sector and creates a clear path for the next generation of farm owners and rural entrepreneurs. The project is the first of its kind to encompass the three regions of Uusimaa, Southwest Finland, and Ostrobothnia, thereby serving most of Swedish-speaking Finland.

The project addresses key challenges related to the increasingly acute shortage of farm succession, low profitability within the sector, and the negative image the industry faces. Through concrete guidance, networking, and active advocacy, Gårdsnyckeln promotes the sector’s appeal and strengthens businesses’ financial viability and social sustainability, with the aim of promoting the long-term vitality of rural areas and securing the country’s future food supply.

The project reaches and benefits all agricultural and horticultural entrepreneurs in Swedish-speaking Finland, with a focus on young entrepreneurs and older business owners preparing to transfer their businesses, who serve as a vital resource for knowledge exchange and mentorship. A key target group consists of individuals outside the industry, who represent significant potential for future sustainable business transitions.

Gårdsnyckeln brings together agricultural stakeholders, advisory services, the education sector, decision-makers, and other industry players in a project that lowers barriers to entry and boosts skills and optimism about the future in rural areas.

The project will be carried out from 2026 to 2028 in collaboration with SLF, FHS, SLC, Novia, YA in Ostrobothnia, and ÖSP.
