About the project
Project Bondenyttan was launched in spring 2018 at the agrology programme at Novia University of Applied Sciences in Raseborg. Bondenyttan is financed by Stiftelsen Finlandssvenska Jordfonden. The project leader for Bondenyttan is AFD Paul Riesinger, lecturer in plant cultivation at YH Novia. The Bondenyttan project involves cooperation between farmers operating in the region and the agrology programme at YH Novia. The operating conditions of the profession form the basis for teaching at the university of applied sciences level. The industry steers the education towards relevant and up-to-date content and methods, while it in turn benefits from research, counselling and education.
The farmer's benefit aims to provide farmers with the necessary knowledge and, at the same time, to update the education of agrology students. The project's work content is based on current issues in conventional agriculture and the results are of immediate practical interest to farmers and agronomy students.
The farmer benefits from and supports an already existing natural farming cluster. The experiments are planned, carried out and evaluated in cooperation between the agrology education, a ring of farmers, Västankvarn farm, Västankvarn experimental farm and the agricultural advisory service (NSL). Cooperation with the whole agricultural sector is a means to realise individual project themes, while cooperation is an end in itself.
The lessons learnt from the studies and trials are made available through field trails, study visits, seminars, lectures and publications.
In addition to the knowledge, educational and co-operation benefits, the Bondenyttan project results in positive social impacts. Farmers and agrology students are involved both professionally and socially in a co-operation and are thus confirmed in their professional role.
