About the project

Bo bättre is a collaborative project between the Finlands svenska Marthaförbund and Novia University of Applied Sciences. The project aims to raise awareness of how we can live more sustainably –functionally, economically, and in a climate-smart way.

At a time of rising housing and energy costs, climate change, and demographic challenges, we need to rethink how we live in our homes. The project highlights practical, everyday solutions that work for different life stages and housing situations.

Why is the project needed?
We spend a great deal of time in our homes. Our living environment affects our health, finances, and overall quality of life. At the same time, society is undergoing major changes. Housing is becoming more expensive. Energy prices are increasing. People are living longer than before. In rural areas, many houses stand empty.

The project aims to stimulate public discussion about how we live, how we take care of our homes, and how existing resources can be used more wisely. The focus is on sustainable everyday choices and on providing knowledge that can be applied in practice. The target group of the project consists of individuals facing housing transitions, such as young adults and seniors.

Project goal

The main aim of the project is to engage the public in dialogue about the future of housing and to provide knowledge on how homes can be maintained in a sustainable way. As part of the project, seminars, panel discussions, and courses are also organized.

We develop educational materials on sustainable home living, the circular economy, and energy-efficient solutions. Topics include material choices, building conservation, storage, comfort and well-being, maintenance, renovation, and flexible housing solutions that can be adapted to different stages of life.
