About the project
Aurora Game Federation is a cross-border cooperation project focusing on strengthening the framework conditions for the gaming ecosystem in the Interreg Aurora area. Northern regions in Finland, Sweden and Norway share similar structural challenges. Support systems for game development are often fragmented and cooperation between regional initiatives, public authorities, educational institutions and investors is limited. As a result, talent, companies and capital tend to move towards larger metropolitan regions despite the growing potential of the northern gaming sector.Project goal
The overall objective of the project is to strengthen institutional capacity and cross-border governance in order to improve coordination between ecosystem actors and create more coherent support structures for professional game development in the Aurora region. The project brings together regional development actors, game hubs, universities and public authorities to develop and operationalize a cooperation model called the Aurora Game Federation. Through policy dialogue, mapping of support structures, improved statistics and pilot activities, the project will identify practical mechanisms that strengthen cross-border collaboration and coordination between regional ecosystems.The results of the project will include a roadmap and cooperation framework for the Aurora Game Federation, supporting continued collaboration after the project period. The project will also contribute to stronger networks for policy dialogue, investment discussions and knowledge exchange across the region, improving long-term conditions for the gaming ecosystem in the northern part of Europe.
