The Coordination Delegation for Swedish-language higher education has appointed  Örjan Andersson, President Rector of Novia University of Applied Sciences, as Chair for the period 2025–2028. The delegation is now entering a more active phase, intensifying its work to strengthen coordination and the development of Swedish-language higher education in Finland.

The work aims to ensure, in the long term, high-quality higher education in Swedish in Finland and to create better conditions for students, teachers, and working life.

The financial framework for the higher education sector is expected to become increasingly tight in the coming years due to continued growth in student numbers combined with the risk of declining state funding. By working in a more coordinated manner, the delegation seeks to ensure that Swedish-language higher education will continue to be of high quality and have sufficient breadth in the future.

The Coordination Delegation is a national advisory board which, in accordance with the Universities Act, is tasked with reviewing the need for Swedish-language higher education, taking into account educational demand, labour market needs, and regional conditions.
