Novia is one of several universities of applied sciences highlighting equality and diversity during Pride. Among other things, the rainbow flag will be raised on Novia’s campuses on June 14.  In Raasepori, Novia will raise the flag on August 22 during the city's Pride Week.

Pride Week takes place in June and promotes equal rights for everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. Several universities of applied sciences will raise the Pride flag on their campuses and acknowledge Pride Week in various ways through their communications and on social media.

Equality is a key part of Novia’s core values, and the university continuously works to promote openness, tolerance, and responsibility. Among other initiatives, the university has an equality and non-discrimination plan that covers both students and staff. The plan includes clear guidelines on principles, operational models, and goals.

By participating in Pride Week, Novia wants to emphasize that a sustainable and open society means equal rights and opportunities for all.

"Being your true self should always be a given, yet we know that many still face prejudice or hate. That’s why Pride is needed—as a reminder of the history of struggle and resistance that brought us here. Pride reminds us of our shared responsibility to continue standing up for freedom, love, and human rights in everyday life," says Anton Röös from Novium.

"We should remember that Pride is not just about LGBTQIA+ individuals—it concerns us all. Each of us has a responsibility to stand up for human rights. As human beings, we must continue working toward a society where every individual feels seen, accepted, and welcome," says Anton Röös.
