Novia Raises the Pride Flag in 2026
Novia is one of several universities of applied sciences that highlight equality and diversity during Pride. During the summer of 2026, the rainbow flag will be flown on Novia’s campuses during the local Pride weeks as follows:
- Vaasa: during the city’s Pride Week, Saturday 4 July 2026 (week 27)
- Raseborg: during the city’s Pride Week, 17–23 August 2026 (week 34)
- Turku: during Pride Week, 24–30 August 2026 (preliminary dates) (week 35)
Please note that we will not be flying the flag in Jakobstad, as there is no flagpole at the campus there.
Pride Weeks highlight everyone’s right to be themselves, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. By participating in Pride, Novia wants to emphasise that a sustainable and open society means equal rights and opportunities for all.
“Pride began as a demand for equality and the right to be seen. Today, it reminds us that everyone deserves to be themselves. When we raise the Pride flag, Novium stands for inclusion and respect—during Pride and every day.”
– The Novium Student Union
Equality is a core value at Novia, and the university continuously works for openness, tolerance, and responsibility. Novia has, among other things, an equality and non-discrimination plan that applies to both students and staff.
Together, we build an inclusive society where everyone can be themselves.
