Arctic Pulse Orchestra launches its Gulf of Bothnia tour in Jakobstad
On Wednesday, March 4, the big band project Arctic Pulse Orchestra will give a concert in Schaumansalen in Jakobstad. The concert marks the start of a tour around the Gulf of Bothnia.
Arctic Pulse Orchestra brings together music students and professional musicians from the Arctic regions of Sweden, Norway, and Finland in an innovative big band performing entirely newly written music.
Under the direction of Ralf Nyqvist, young talents and experienced musicians meet in a dynamic and modern big band sound that reflects the entire Nordic Arctic area.
The repertoire has a clear Scandinavian and Arctic profile, featuring music written by composers and arrangers from the region. The sound draws on both northern musical expression and elements typical of Nordic traditions, ranging from calm melodic pieces to more powerful and contemporary big band arrangements. The aim is to build a collaboration rooted in and strengthening Nordic identity.
Arctic Pulse Orchestra is part of the Interreg Aurora project Arctic Music Circles, with Novia as a partner.
Time: Wednesday, March 4, at 19:00
Venue: Schaumansalen, Jakobstad
