Novia University of Applied Sciences Moves into Campus Axelia in Turku
Today, 24 September, Novia celebrates the inauguration of its new Campus Axelia in Turku. Students, staff, and invited guests have the opportunity to explore the new facilities. The programme begins at 12:30 with networking and refreshments and continues at 13:00 with welcoming remarks by Rector Örjan Andersson.
The academic year 2026–2027 marks an important milestone for Novia. As of August 2026, Novia's operations previously located on Henrikinkatu and Hämeenkatu have moved to Axelia at Piispankatu 8, creating an inspiring learning environment for both new and current students. Nearly one thousand students now share 3,780 square metres of modern facilities.
"The new campus is fundamentally about creating better opportunities for people to meet, learn, and grow. The modern facilities strengthen collaboration between students, working life, and society, providing excellent conditions for developing the skills and solutions needed for the future," says Rector Örjan Andersson.
Campus Axelia creates new opportunities for students to participate in research, development, and innovation projects, build professional networks, and develop solutions to real societal challenges together with working life partners.
"The new campus is a place where ideas can grow into innovations, projects, and businesses. We want the campus to be a unique environment for co-creation and development, serving as a driver of regional growth. Here, knowledge is transformed into action," says Hanna Guseff, Head of Degree Programmes in Business Administration.
The campus offers modern and inspiring learning environments where education, innovation, and entrepreneurship meet. It provides ideal conditions for developing new ideas, testing concepts, and carrying out pilot projects through close collaboration between students, teachers, researchers, and external partners.
"The new facilities at Campus Axelia Turku represent a significant improvement for Novia's education in health and welfare. Students gain access to modern learning environments for practical training. The facilities are connected through an observation room from which teachers can manage simulations and create realistic healthcare scenarios for teaching purposes. The premises can also be used for continuing education and development activities," explains Eva Juslin, Head of Degree Programmes in Health and Welfare.
"Within bioeconomy education, theoretical studies are combined with practical learning through fieldwork, farm-based studies, and internships. This gives students the opportunity to apply their knowledge in real-life environments and working-life contexts. To enable practical training and simulations on campus, we now have a combined simulator for agricultural and forestry machinery with attachments," says Patrik Karell, Head of Degree Programmes in Bioeconomy.
