Students have raised concerns regarding the implementation of the agrology programme at Campus Raseborg. Novia UAS is grateful for the students’ strong commitment to their education, and today, the rector informed students about the improvement measures being introduced.

Novia UAS has previously acknowledged the criticism and, at the turn of the year, introduced a series of measures to develop the programme. The recent student initiative highlights the need for further decisive action, and the university is now launching a comprehensive action plan. The measures include two new recruitments, an increased number of teaching hours, improved scheduling and leadership structure, inclusion of students in the management group, and the introduction of monthly discussion forums for students and industry representatives.

“We are grateful for the honest feedback from our students—it helps us identify and address the shortcomings. We understand that students have experienced significant deficiencies in their education, and we regret the inconvenience this has caused. We are working to rebuild trust,” says President Örjan Andersson.

In addition to these measures, an external review is underway to analyse the agriculture and Forestry Engineering degree programmes and propose long-term solutions to ensure high-quality Swedish-language education that meets industry needs. The review also includes an assessment of operational conditions at various locations: Raseborg, Helsinki, and Turku. Novia’s board will review the report in August 2025.

“We are firmly committed to making the necessary changes to ensure our students receive a high-quality education and a positive learning experience. We will continue to listen to feedback from our students, teachers, and the public to continuously improve our operations,” says Andersson.
