Novia UAS participated in a closed high-level event on the new G20 Presidency
On November 29, 2024, Dr. Jorge Gomez-Paredes, RDI Team Leader on Energy Transition at Novia UAS, was invited to participate in a closed event with His Excellency Phumelele Stone Sizani, Ambassador of South Africa to Germany, alongside the Ambassadors to Germany from Colombia -Yadir Salazar Mejia-, Pakistan -Saqlain Syedah-, Mexico -Francisco Quiroga-, and Luiz Eduardo Goncalves, Minister-Counsellor of Brazil.
The meeting, hosted by the Global Solutions Initiative in Berlin, provided an opportunity to hear South Africa’s vision for its 2025 G20 Presidency, during which it will hold the first-ever G20 Summit in Africa. Ambassador Stone Sizani highlighted his country’s focus on “solidarity, equality, and sustainable development” and stressed South Africa’s commitment to elevating the voices of the Global South and fostering global partnerships.
Dr. Gomez-Paredes emphasized to Ambassador Stone Sizani the importance of addressing international spillover effects, as the basis for global policy coherence and global partnerships for Sustainable Development. Dr. Gomez-Paredes provided the Ambassador with a copy of a Policy Brief on the topic, co-authored by him and his colleagues, which was recently published for the current G20 Presidency.
