Goal
The Student: - can explain the basic principles, concepts, and terminology in anatomy and physiology - can explain the basic principles and concepts in pathology - is familiar with the different tissue types, their structure, and function - can explain the structure of the nervous system and understand how the nervous system regulates body functions - has knowledge of the structure and function of the sensory organs - has knowledge of the endocrine system and understands how various hormones can regulate body functions - can explain the reproductive organs, their structure and function, and has knowledge of how fertilization of the egg cell occurs - has knowledge of the structure and function of the musculoskeletal system - can explain the blood, heart, and blood circulation, as well as the lymphatic system - can explain the structure and function of the respiratory system - can explain the structure and function of the digestive system - has knowledge of the structure and function of the kidneys and urinary tract, and understand the body's electrolyte, fluid, and acid-base regulation
