About the project
We at Novia University of Applied Sciences, with funding from the Swedish Cultural Foundation, are starting a project where students in interdisciplinary teams take on the challenge of creating practical, technical solutions within the circular economy. Over the course of three years, we offer students the opportunity to carry out short, intensive projects with a focus on recycling, upcycling and better management of biowaste – especially in relation to the industries that are important in Ostrobothnia: the food industry, the forest industry, agriculture and the energy sector.Project goal
The goal is to use technology to find new ways to use resources: reduce waste, increase material recycling, find new uses for residual products, and develop concrete prototypes and ideas for circular processes. Students are trained to identify problems, design solutions, and evaluate sustainability aspects – always with a connection to the real needs of the regional industry.UN's Sustainable Development Goals
