Restart - seniorer som erkänd resurs för företag och samhälle

About the project

Novia University of Applied Sciences, the municipality of Kimitoön and Åbo Akademi University have a joint Restart project in Åboland.

The project offers training, workshops, individual coaching and mentoring, as well as advice on starting your own business. Seniors who stay or return to working life contribute to the vitality of the local community.

Project goal

The aim of the project is to bring about long-term changes in attitudes and create an inclusive labour market where senior citizens are seen as an important resource in working life. With increasing life expectancy, the number of healthy, energetic and skilled people over the age of 60 has also increased. Seniors now have better opportunities than before to continue working after retirement age in meaningful jobs and to enrich work communities with their knowledge.

The three specific goals of the project are as follows:

1. Offer people over 60 the opportunity to develop their skills and encourage seniors to stay in the workforce longer – or return to work as entrepreneurs or employees.

2. To encourage companies to retain their older employees and employ active seniors in their operations.

3. To change attitudes in the workplace towards seniors, i.e. reduce age discrimination and highlight the potential and resources of seniors for both companies and society.
