About the project
Project Description: Nordic-ASEAN Music Collaboration and Cultural Exchange Program (NAMCCEP)The Nordic-ASEAN Music Collaboration and Cultural Exchange Program (NAMCCEP) is an international partnership between Novia University of Applied Sciences (Faculty of Arts and Culture, Finland) and the National University of Singapore (NUS) through its prestigious Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (YST) – one of Asia’s top music academies.
The project engages both faculty and students (Bachelor’s and Master’s level) from both institutions, with the aim of fostering innovative music collaboration and strengthening intercultural exchange between the Nordic and Southeast Asian regions. NAMCCEP is designed to advance collaborative learning, support curriculum development, and create new international networks within the field of music education.
The project is built around three core components:
NAMCCEP Exchange: An in-person teacher-student exchange integrated as a new course at both institutions. The exchange includes practical workshops in music creation, production, and collaboration, culminating in professionally recorded musical outputs.
NAMCCEP Digital Network: A program of online student collaborations, webinars, and lectures addressing topics such as music production, the globalisation of the music industry, cultural perspectives in music education, and community music initiatives.
NAMCCEP Knowledge Transfer Partnership: A series of seminars for educators from both institutions, contributing to the development of new and innovative music curricula.
The project builds upon Novia’s flagship online Master’s program in Creative Music Production and YST’s status as a leading hub for music education in Asia. As part of the knowledge exchange, YST will strengthen Novia’s understanding of the Asian music markets, while Novia supports YST’s development of new programs focused on popular music and music production.
