About the project

Innovative Maritime Pedagogies and Competence Training for Kenya TVET (IMPACT for Kenya TVET) is a partnership between Novia University of Applied Sciences and Kenyan Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions with an aim to enhance innovative pedagogies and maritime skills in the Kenyan maritime sector.

To ensure that the project addresses real-world needs, IMPACT for Kenya TVET will begin with a comprehensive assessment of the needs and gaps in the Kenyan maritime sector. This assessment will identify challenges and opportunities within Kenya's maritime education and training (MET) sector. Based on this assessment, the project will establish innovative models and collaborative structures to strengthen MET in Kenya, supporting the development of the maritime workforce and aligning with Kenya’s Vision 2030.

Project goal

IMPACT for Kenya TVET key objectives are:
- To develop the skills of TVET instructors in utilizing digital tools and innovative pedagogies
- To adapt the Dual-TVET approach, and support the employability of maritime graduates; attain Sea-time and CoC
- Explore RDI opportunities to support KE maritime education sector
