About the project
The goal of this Interreg Aurora small-scale project is to analyze the potential for a cross-bordernetwork of key stakeholders in the film and tv industries in the Kvarken region. Such a
network could act as a foundation for developing the Kvarken region film industry and
to create a common scene for filmmakers and the audiovisual industry. If such a
potential is confirmed, the collaboration within this small-scale project will be directed
towards forming an application for a full-scale Interreg Aurora project aimed at
establishing such a network/cross-border collaboration.
The activities of the project will be a stakeholder analysis where stakeholders in the
industry on both sides of the Kvarken strait will be mapped and contacted in order to
find out their needs in relation to a cross-border film network, and a workshop series
aimed at forming a project idea for a full-scale application based on the results from the
stakeholder analysis.
Impact
Kvarken Film Network was a small-scale Interreg project that mapped the current state of the audiovisual industry in the Kvarken region. The project revealed a strong interest in cross-border collaboration between actors in Ostrobothnia and Västerbotten, while also highlighting the need for improved support structures, resources, and networks. Through the project, shared challenges and opportunities were identified, laying the foundation for continued development. The results led to the launch of the larger Interreg project Kvarken Film Hub, which began on September 1, 2025.UN's Sustainable Development Goals
