In demanding and exceptionally demanding structural design: The student is able to apply - types of joints for different wood products - fire dimensioning methods The student is able to take into account - operation of connector groups as a whole - the effect of the stiffness of the joint on the structure - the effect of carbonising components on the performance of the joints The student is able to calculate and examine - dimensioning of the shear-loaded nail joint - dimensioning of the shear-loaded screw connection - dimensioning of the axially loaded screw connection - dimensioning of the corner plate joint - dimensioning of the glue bar connection - dimensioning of the "board joint" - fire dimensioning The student is able to identify - mechanical operation of joints - joints breakage - weaknesses and strengths of joints - the effect of joints on wood cracking - the effects of combining different materials on wood cracking - the effect of the joints on the acoustics

Ajankohta:
Lectures held in the autumn term 2027. The course is carried out as online studies i.e., lectures tied to time but not to place. Lectures on Wednesdays at 15.00-18.00: Exact dates will be announced in spring 2027. Lectures are held on Webex: https://novia.webex.com/join/emil.jansson Students need a computer with dual screens, good internet connection, web cam and headset. We strive for an interactive and positive learning environment where all participants have contact and contribute to learning. We all have our webcams activated at all times during lectures.
