Course-specific competence: the student:
- is able to describe pharmacodynamical and pharmacokinetical principles, as well as the general mechanisms of action of medicaments on a molecular and cellular level
- is able to describe and draw conclusions from individual variations, mechanisms of action and side effects of medical substances
- is able to describe mechanisms of action on a molecular level, and describe the effects, area of use and side effects of various medicinal groups
- is able to relate pharmacological mechanisms of action to the treatment of pathological conditions
- is able to assess the possible advantages and risks with the use of multiple medications (polypharmacy)
- is able to identify health problems that have been caused by side effects of or the joint action of medical substances
- is able to use different pedagogical theories when instructing patients who have been prescribed medication
