- can take into account cultural monuments, archaeological remains, natural habitats and threatened species
- can take into account certification criteria for timber and logging
- knows the methods used to harvest timber and wood fuel
- can plan and lead logging
- knows how the harvesting of storm timber is carried out
- can plan the storage of timber and wood fuel at remote transport hubs
- understands the cost structure of logging
- has experience of occupational safety and contractual matters
- knows how salaries are calculated for forest workers and machine operators
- is aware of different types of entrepreneurship related to logging
- can carry out logging audits
