It is not always easy to manage financially as a student fortunately students receive a lot of discounts in Finland if they have a student card. You can apply for a student card at the Student Union Novium.
Cost of living
Students may have to purchase some books and/or other study materials which are not covered by Novia UAS. The cost of living in Finland is fairly high so you should be prepared with a budget of 700-900 € per month to cover basic living costs such as rent, food, and transportation.
For students things such as furniture, kitchen utencils, and household amenities can be expensive. In Finland there are many flea markets/second hand markets, where you can buy good quality second hand products for reasonable prices. Find flea markets/second hand markets in Vaasa here, in Turku here, and in Raseborg here.
Tuition fees were introduced 2017 at Novia UAS for new non-EU/EEA students enrolled in English degree programmes . Read more about the fees here.
There is a scholarship system in place for non EU/EEA students required to pay the tuition fees. More information is available here.
Student Financial Aid
If you are a Finnish citizen you are entitled to student financial aid from the Social Insurance Institution of Finland (KELA). Also non-Finnish citizens might be entitled to student financial aid if their primary reason for staying in Finland is not studying.
If you are not entitled to student financial aid, scholarships might be another possible way to fund your studies. Here are some possibilities: scholarshipportal.eu
