Note! Entrance examinations in Finland for English taught Degree Programmes at Novia UAS
In order to comply with the Finnish government recommendations due to the COVID-19 pandemic the entrance examination will not be arranged as planned in March/April 2020.
Universities of applied sciences are making joint backup plans for situation where the entrance examinations can not be conducted as planned. These backup plans will be published on Friday 27 th March. Plans will be sent to the applicants by email and posted on the website of every UAS.
Invitation to the entrance examination
All eligible applicants will receive invitations to the entrance examination. The entrance examination is compulsory and is held on 3 April 2020 in Turku, Finland. The exact time and location will be included in the invitation e-mail. Entrance examinations for Maritime Technology will also be held abroad by FINNIPS network in 2020.
Applicants must score at least 20 of 100 points in the entrance examination. An entrance examination result below 20 is failed and cannot be considered for admission.
The entrance examination is divided into the following parts:
Part 1: Mathematics, logical deduction, Physics and/or Chemistry. Of Physics and Chemistry, you can choose which questions to answer. (max 60 points)
Part 2 Written interview, which includes evaluation of English language skills. (max 40 points)
A non-programmable calculator is allowed during the entrance exam. The total duration of the entrance examination (parts 1 and 2) is 3 hours.
The Degree Programmes Bachelor of Engineering, Maritime Technology and Bachelor of Maritime Management, Captain at Novia UAS accept each other's results in the entrance examination. If you have applied to both degree prorammes you will be invited to only one entrance examination but get result for them both.
Admission to the degree programme
Students are selected for Maritime Technology using an entrance examination only. The admission score consists of points awarded for the entrance examination.
