Congratulations on becoming a student at Novia University of Applied Sciences and welcome to Campus Allegro in Jakobstad/Pietarsaari!

General information for new students in Novia UAS. 

Study Start

The academic year begins for all Bachelor students with a first gathering on Monday 27 August 2018 at 13:00 in auditorium Rotunda, Campus Allegro. The address is Köpmansgatan 10/Kauppiaankatu 10. The studies for all programmes starts with an introduction course (partly in Swedish) where you will receive information on practicalities concerning your studies.

For students on the Master programme Entrepreneurship In the Art, Music, Media & Marketing the first gathering will be on Monday 3 September at 10:00 in Kammarmusiksalen, Campus Allegro, Köpmansgatan 10/Kauppiaankatu 10. An introduction programme will be sent out to all students on the Master programme.

Student Affairs office

Student affairs offices are located at every campus. The Student Affairs Office at Campus Allegro can assist you with student services once you have confirmed your study place, please find further information here.

Final School Certificates

Please bring your original school certificates, which you used in your application with you to Finland. The original certificates will be checked at our UAS at the start of the studies.

Campus Allegro, Jakobstad

Campus Allegro with its 700 students, is located in the heart of the town of Jakobstad. There are many educations on the senior secondary level and on a UAS/University level in campus Allegro Jakobstad. The educational units that comprise the dynamic campus are the Universities of Applied Sciences of Novia and Centria, the YA! Vocational Education and Training, the Music Institute of the Jakobstad Region and the Children’s Art School, Balatako. Allegro is a well-known cultural meeting place. In Campus Allegro you'll also find Schauman Hall, a high-quality concert hall that seats up to 400 visitors, the more intimate Black box for concerts and plays and the exhibit rooms of White box. The Tritonia library unit in Jakobstad serves all educational units in Campus Allegro and is open for everyone.

The old quarter from the 18th century includes both historical buildings and modern design, all joined under a high glass ceiling. Campus Allegro offers spaces for many kinds of events, exhibits, concerts and conferences.


Information about Jakobstad

Jakobstad (or Pietarsaari in Finnish) is a lively bilingual city in Ostrobothnia, with about 20 000 citizens. The town is renowned for its maritime history. Shipbuilding with its associated shipping industry has long traditions in Jakobstad. Jakobstad is also known as a town of parks and gardens.

Jakobstad's location on the cost offers great possibilities for all kinds of outdoor activities throughout the year. There are beaches and guest harbours within and outside the town area. During the winter the local citices enjoy outdoor activities like skiing and ice skating on the sea ice.

In Jakobstad you can find lots of events and a vibrant cultural life. There are many different organizers arranging interesting events all year round.
