Nursing

Bachelor of Health Care, 210 credits, 3,5 years includes 75 ECTS of work experience

Studies

The Degree Programme in Nursing has educated culturally competent registered nurses, mainly for hospitals, since 1998. The primary studies focus on basic nursing skills, and gradually shift towards in-depth studies of medical and surgical nursing with a transcultural approach.

Courses

The nursing curriculum includes health promotion, illness prevention, restoration of health, and alleviation of suffering. The practice can be completed nationally and/or internationally in different caring and nursing settings, ranging from elderly care in nursing homes to acute medical care in hospitals, preparing students for challenges they will meet in healthcare.

Career prospects

A majority of the graduates have found work as nurses in various settings in Finland, but also in USA, Sweden, Norway, Australia, and China as well as in international commissions. The education has also functioned as a springboard for further studies in Caring and Nursing Science both in Finland and other Nordic countries, as well as in other sciences on an Academic level.
