Novia University of Applied Sciences

This is Novia
Novia University of Applied Sciences offers multidisciplinary higher education with a practical orientation, training professionals for expert and development posts. There are 33 degree programmes leading to a Bachelor’s Degree.

Three programmes run entirely in English:
Integrated Coastal Zone Management>> (Raseborg/Raasepori)

Nursing>> (Vasa/Vaasa)

Research and development work is linked to the degree programmes. Novia and Åbo Akademi University together host the Research- and Development Institute Aronia, founded in 2000.

Through Aronia students and lecturers at Novia have the opportunity to participate in projects of applied and basic research that benefit the organizations and businesses in the region.

Network University

Novia is a network university connecting campuses in seven coastal towns in southwestern and western Finland.,

This string of approximately 600 kilometres ties together the Swedish-speaking regions of the country, which is Novia’s main catchment area. Most of Novia’s 3 500 students speak Swedish as their first language, representing a national minority of about 5% or 300 000 people. The language of instruction at Novia is Swedish.

Regionally anchored, internationally oriented

Novia educates students whose knowledge and skills are adaptable on the global labour market. At the same time we promote regional development through interaction with local industries, trade and services. In practice this means e.g. research and development projects commissioned by regional organizations and resulting in students’ Bachelor’s theses.

Sustainable development of coastal areas ties in with our geography and regional interests. It is an area of special expertise that has given Novia both national and international recognition.

Novia’s future strategy is to develop several spearhead areas within the disciplines of the degree  programmes.
